Our partnership is made up of Moving on, Education Authority – Transitions service, Western Health and Social Care Trust – Children’s Disability team & Transitions team, Volunteer Now, Children and young People’s Strategic Partnership, Action for Children, Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, Omagh Enterprise centre, and Further & Higher Education colleges.
The strength of this partnership allows us to tackle issues facing young people with disabilities.
The Education Authority – Transitions service
The Education Authority Western Region supports all students who hold a Statement of Special Needs. They specifically support young people during transition from school to College, University, Training or Employment. Support is tailored to the needs of the young person and their families to ensure a smooth and seamless transition in their post school pathway.
Young Enterprise NI
Young Enterprise Northern Ireland is a charity developing the entrepreneurial skills and aspirations of young people aged four to 25 to prepare them for the new economy. We develop the skills of young people to ensure they leave education prepared for life and work.
Children’s Disability Service – Western Health and Social Care Trust
The Social Work staff provides holistic needs led assessment of the child and their family. The Children’s Disability Team respond flexibly and sensitively in order to provide a range of services that will enable children with a disability to reach their full potential in order to live as full a life as possible within their capabilities.
Transitions Service – Western Health and Social Care Trust
The Western Trust aims to provide a transitions support service to coordinate and facilitate the smooth transition of young people through their final years of school and onto their chosen career pathway that reflects their aspirations, dreams and ability.
Volunteer Now work to promote, enhance and support volunteering across Northern Ireland. Volunteer Now is about connecting with individuals and organisations to build healthy communities and create positive change.
We provide training, information, guidance and support to volunteer-involving organisations on issues of good practice and policy.
Locality Planning Groups are partnerships between statutory, voluntary and community organisations that are working with and for children, young people and families at a local geography; such as District Council areas. Their common goal is to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership
Agencies, children and young people, families and communities across Northern Ireland working together – to improve outcomes for children and young people through integrated planning and commissioning.
Northern Ireland Union of Supported Employment (NIUSE)
NIUSE is an umbrella organisation representing individuals and organisation providing vocational training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities and people from other disadvantaged situations.
